Dances with Loons

LETTING GO

clip_image002

The battered boat’s

Tenuous tether

Snapped!

Like a kite line

Caught unaware in a gust.

Suddenly free

Directionless

Trembling at the precipice of each wave

Daunted by the depths below her bow;

An inky blackness of uncertainty all around.

But free,

Holding hopes of future sunlight,

Of calming seas,

And of eyes

To see the beauty of her weathered frame;

Of loving hands

To sand away the roughness

That she might shine again.

Offering for this week’s One Single Impression prompt. Thanks to Tammie Lee of Spirit Helpers for this week's lovely prompt, wanderlust.

How beautiful! To be swept away, re-furbished to a lovely shine.

This poem is a jewel of greatest price: surrender to the unknown.

Here's to hoping that the roughness is not all worn away, but a spot left to remind.

Many thanks for this beautiful piece, DWL--

Reminds me of the time I loaded my dog and vacuum-cleaner in the car and headed out for an unknown life in an unknown town.  I was both trembling with fear AND over-joyed with the promise of a different tomorrow.  That was how Bend found me, btw.  The dog was tired of being in the car when we got here and the place looked as good as any so I rented a little house of the West-side right away, not even knowing there was a river near-by.  I loved the picture with the shocking blue sky, too!
