Host, Virtual Tea House

found art goes metaphysical

Struggling to become incarnated

   embodied

   really live in this body

   and not my always-editing mind,

on what grounds do I engage

   what re-incarnation might entail?

The closest I can get to understanding reincarnation

is making art of of found pieces of what is otherwise described

as junk.

A little of dis

  a little of dat

Some glue, glitter, screws and fine wire.

Voila.

No…I didn’t make this. Wish I had! Click on the photo for other great pieces of found art.

Thanks to a favorite, Gautami Tripathy of Rooted for this week's prompt, reincarnation on One Single Impression.  Please visit that site for a plethora,  a palette, a pandemonium of entries on this prompt.

Seems like a simile of life.  Finding what we can and making the best of it.  I enjoyed this.  Nicely done.

What a wonderful and unique take on the prompt, recycling is a form of reincarnation. Beautifully said, and love the photo!

Thanks all youse!

And zoya--your comment really made me smile, because your poetry to me seems so well-polished, so full of kinetic potential--who knew it is held together with glue, glitter, screws and fine wire?   I guess in the long run, everything is held together that way!

When I am recycled I hope I come back as beautiful as the bird in your photo! It is stunning! Just goes to show - there is no junk - not really! Love your take on the prompt!

That's a beautiful poem. I think there is a lot of intuition that goes into finding art in the ordinary and the discarded.

I love the bird you found.  Was it for sale or on display at a museum or such?  The poem is as pretty to me.  Thank you.

'The closest you can get to understanding incarnation' raises a question.

How did you understand it before you found the bird?  I don't remember ever having my parents or anyone else telling nor do I remember looking it up or reading about it.

Come to think, I really don't know the 'supposed' mechanics involved and I doubt any living person does.  It may be like my 'fooie foo bird,' it doesn't exist.  :-)  I rather suspect it does not.

I was thinking along the same lines this week, Beth.

As for a personal reincarnation, I do believe we are changing all the time. And for some people, I say Thank God!

Surely recycled has been underrated until now - this is superb!

About Beth Patterson

The Virtual Tea House website became 'word-ripe' when, over a cup of jasmine green, I realized that the web has an expanding part to play in the communal aspects of spiritual growth.

With a master's degree in religion, my career spans 30 years in end of life care and child abuse intervention and advocacy.

Here in beautiful Central Oregon, my spiritual homes of the high desert and the mountains are both in proximity. And for good measure, four hours away is Grandmother Ocean and the stunning Oregon Coast.

I'm making decent progress on the goal set by my mother early on: she taught us that the goal of humanity should be to become ever-more eccentric, i.e. more fully human.

Entering the 'forest-dweller' phase of life, I am honored to host the Virtual Tea House for all who wish to explore how our lives are enriched and made new a thousand times each day by the spirituality we embody. Exploring this engagement together is the purpose of the Virtual Tea House.

Welcome! Let's have a cup of virtual tea together and share what brings us joy, what we are being taught by life, how we are leaning into the Big Questions posed to us each day in sometimes 'distressing disguises'.
