blueberries and grief

 card5

Here's my collage for today.  It comes from a space of feeling the wind of the spirit of change and new directions moving through my life.

Would love to know any reactions, responses you might have.

I can recognize a couple images in this collage which might pertain to my own life right now.  I really like the title - I wouldn't have thought to put blueberries juxtaed with grief.  And the colors are great.

I see a real symmetry in this collage. The shape of the eyes, the rocks, and the hands all echo each other. Beautiful, Beth.

As you know, I've been in deep grief for over 7 months, and have experienced all of this in the process, and am still in it.  Today I am the woman at the top, and on Sunday I was holding blueberries.  Your collage evokes deep emotion and recognition for me, and will stay with me for a long time.  Thanks for contributing this.  L.

Dear Christine, Jena, Linda and Ribbon--thanks for your soulful comments.

I do love doing collage--it feels like the work of soul to find symbols of things that don't look as if they are connected, and through working with them in almost a dream-state, find out that they do.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing these images.

Love the images. The wrinkled eyes speak volumes of stories.

It's a beautiful abstraction, and a beautiful source of spinning off into one's own meanings. And I've been thinking a lot about blueberries lately, the deep burnished color, the way they seem to glow. The ones in your photo is how I like to think of them pest - hand picked from the bush, with bits of leaf and twig.

What an interesting collage. I love the eyes, perfect placement for this photo and the ones below.  I also like the title very much.

About Beth Patterson

The Virtual Tea House website became 'word-ripe' when, over a cup of jasmine green, I realized that the web has an expanding part to play in the communal aspects of spiritual growth.

With a master's degree in religion, my career spans 20 years in end of life care and I currently work in the field of child abuse intervention and advocacy.

Here in beautiful Central Oregon, my spiritual homes of the high desert and the mountains are both in proximity. And for good measure, four hours away is Grandmother Ocean and the stunning Oregon Coast.

I'm making decent progress on the goal set by my mother early on: she taught us that the goal of humanity should be to become ever-more eccentric, i.e. more fully human.

Entering the 'forest-dweller' phase of life, I am honored to host the Virtual Tea House for all who wish to explore how our lives are enriched and made new a thousand times each day by the spirituality we embody. Exploring this engagement together is the purpose of the Virtual Tea House.

Welcome! Let's have a cup of virtual tea together and share what brings us joy, what we are being taught by life, how we are leaning into the Big Questions posed to us each day in sometimes 'distressing disguises'.
