Nothing spectacular

This post is for last week's writing prompt: One Single Impression: Spectacle

If I could see with the eyes of love

Nothing could be a spectacle.

Nothing could be outside the circle.

If I would see with the eyes of love

All would be spectacular.

All would be insanely lovely.

All would be inside the circle of Joy.

If I don't see with the eyes of love

Rumi will be a liar.

Hafiz will turn in his grave.

Gandhi will sigh in exasperation.

MLK will order up another General.

I best be retrieving my re-gifted spectacles...

I read the link in your post and saw the YouTube clip after I read your poem. Rereading after viewing made the poem sing even better.

I've wandered on the Beth trail again today, beginning right here...and I'm shown yet again how a deeply open heart colours everything.

Beautiful.

Beth,

as usual what you gift me with is so overwhelming it makes me go directly to my heart.  sometimes by passing my head..which I lwant to do MORE of!! It is like putting on those spectacles...yes that IS what it is...

this poem and video will make my days...and carry me forward in the ways I most desire.

Thank you ALL for being willing to share your lives so I understand we are all walking a path and desire to walk together.  YES>Blessings!!!!!!!!!! Karen

A couple of friends have asked me via email how I might go about 'retrieving the re-gifted spectacles'.

It's a chicken/egg thing.  How can I see all as love if I don't see with new eyes, and somehow I need an infusion of that love to see clearly.

My best answer right now is work for clarity, love to the best of my ability, work with passion and energy, keep the eyes that I have open to new possibilities, and wait patiently for the infusion of love.

Thank you all for asking...

About Beth Patterson

The Virtual Tea House website became 'word-ripe' when, over a cup of jasmine green, I realized that the web has an expanding part to play in the communal aspects of spiritual growth.
One of my favorite hats, among several is: initiated firekeeper in the Sacred Fire Community. Hosting a monthly community fire circle, I'm being taught that the simple act of sitting around a fire with the intent of holding open-hearted space makes for some soulful community!
With a master's degree in religion, my career spans 20 years in end of life care and I currently work in the field of child abuse intervention and advocacy.
Here in beautiful Central Oregon, my spiritual homes of the high desert and the mountains are both in proximity. And for good measure, four hours away is Grandmother Ocean and the stunning Oregon Coast.
I'm making decent progress on the goal set by my mother early on: she taught us that the goal of humanity should be to become ever-more eccentric, i.e. more fully human.
Entering the 'forest-dweller' phase of life, I am honored to host the Virtual Tea House for all who wish to explore how our lives are enriched and made new a thousand times each day by the spirituality we embody. Exploring this engagement together is the purpose of the Virtual Tea House.
Welcome! Let's have a cup of virtual tea together and share what brings us joy, what we are being taught by life, how we are leaning into the Big Questions posed to us each day in sometimes 'distressing disguises'.
