A July Morning Iditerod

While I'm working on unveiling the 'Where's Home?' loveliness--here's some pics taken with my trusty T-Mobile Dash phone on an early morning walk with Geronimo.  He continues to get us up at ridiculously early hours (like 4am), and I've decided, NOT true to form, to not resist and to make the best of  this irritation. Actually think he might be my new guru--trying to really 'wake me up'.  This is a series of photos from a July 1 walk around northeast Bend, Oregon--the Orchard District neighborhood.  The walk took about an hour and covered 20 blocks and some neighborhood open spaces.  You'll see the sun coming up over Pilot Butte; some sheep, chickens and a turkey (it's too far away to really see them well, so you'll have to trust me); one of my favorite Ponderosa pines; some lovely ancient junipers;  a sunflower patch that hasn't yet bloomed; my favorite house (the one I keep hoping will go on the market so I can buy it and love it up--like I need another project); and there's even a self-photo of me looking pretty happy and sassy for 5:45am... Hope you enjoy this walk as much as I did--it's another perspective of 'where's home'!

Wow what a morning walk!

That time of day is a meditation in itself.

Hi Julia!

Yes, indeed. Early each morning, as I stumble about trying to find shoes, leash, etc. I grumble inside. But as soon as we get moving...wow, the world is full of wonderful things at that time of day, before the world awakes.  It feels very special to me these days!

Nice 'seeing' your smiling face in this here Tea House this morning--

About Beth Patterson

The Virtual Tea House website became 'word-ripe' when, over a cup of jasmine green, I realized that the web has an expanding part to play in the communal aspects of spiritual growth.
One of my favorite hats, among several is: initiated firekeeper in the Sacred Fire Community. Hosting a monthly community fire circle, I'm being taught that the simple act of sitting around a fire with the intent of holding open-hearted space makes for some soulful community!
With a master's degree in religion, my career spans 20 years in end of life care and I currently work in the field of child abuse intervention and advocacy.
Here in beautiful Central Oregon, my spiritual homes of the high desert and the mountains are both in proximity. And for good measure, four hours away is Grandmother Ocean and the stunning Oregon Coast.
I'm making decent progress on the goal set by my mother early on: she taught us that the goal of humanity should be to become ever-more eccentric, i.e. more fully human.
Entering the 'forest-dweller' phase of life, I am honored to host the Virtual Tea House for all who wish to explore how our lives are enriched and made new a thousand times each day by the spirituality we embody. Exploring this engagement together is the purpose of the Virtual Tea House.
Welcome! Let's have a cup of virtual tea together and share what brings us joy, what we are being taught by life, how we are leaning into the Big Questions posed to us each day in sometimes 'distressing disguises'.
