What to bring to a Fire Circle

What to bring/exchange:
- A dish to share for the potluck
- Seasonally: warm clothes and a blanket to snuggle in
- Chocolate (it seems that dark is the favorite of most fire circles)
- Cigars if you smoke or for a visiting shaman or teacher
- A folding camp-style chair—if you have it. Otherwise, we do have extra seating.
- A story, poem, song, a chant, or joke to share with the group.
- Drums, rattles, etc.
- Some wood for the fire, if you have any seasoned (even one stick is much appreciated!)
- Any friends or family who might be interested in joining us.
- ‘What’s on your heart’—joy, grief, and everything in the mix!
Helping the Firekeeper by bringing extra papercups/napkins, etc. may be appreciated (ask your Firekeeper). Universally, offering to clean up the area after the fire, as well as the kitchen or eating areas is welcomed!
"The point is to make intimate contact with the real world, the real self. Sacred refers to that which takes us out of our little selves into the whole mountains-and-rivers mandala universe...nature is not a place to visit, it is home."---Gary Snyder
