This post is written today, November 26, on my 55th birthday, and is is honor of the other 3 beings that I know who share this birthday. Zoya and I dreamed this blog connection up, but Gusti and Leslie don’t get off without a little public exposure. To have this particular year’s birthday land on Thanksgiving is very sweet and meaningful to all of us, who take gratitude to be one of the highest of human functions.

Why would humans have any connection to the day they are born?

Animals don’t seem to, nor plants.

Matter of fact, they don’t seem to know about Thanksgiving or Christmas either.

Rocks just sit there on their birthdays.

But humans…we assign some type of special meaning to special days.

(Refrain: Happy birthday to Leslie, Happy birthday to Zoya, Happy birthday to Gusti, Happy birthday to Me. NOTE: This 4 line ditty doesn’t really work in a lyrical way, but that ok.)

Born on different years

The stars were not aligned alike when the four of us were born, on this same day of the calendar year.

The moon was in various shape of disrepair on those various years, as well.

Our mothers labored on different continents, I’m assuming.

What if anything is alike between the 4 of us?

If you believe in astrology, it would seem that we are all fiery creatures,

depending on all the other placements of our birth charts.

We like travel, big picture thinking, being creative, making assumptions, and riding off into the sunset.

We tend to philosophize, like to live large and make big mistakes.

Begging the pardon of real astrologers, that’s the condensation of Sagittarian-ism that I’ve come to.

(Refrain: Happy birthday to Leslie, Happy birthday to Zoya, Happy birthday to Gusti, Happy birthday to Me.)

I’m sure there are many similarities between the 4 of us.

I wish we could sit for a cup or 4 of tea, or a glass or 4 of some good Beaujolais today and figure them out.

But since I’m the only one that knows all 4 of us

and I’m not so sure about knowing me sometimes,

and only 2 of us live in Oregon, that’s probably not going to happen, at least today.

What is apparent though, is that the aperture in the universal apparatus that is November 26th brought some interesting, creative souls into the world.

We love to laugh, we’re all tricksters of one kind or another, we get it that it’s all a ‘cosmic joke’.

That’s a pretty sweet aperture.

Ancestral energies were present at my birth.

My great, great grandfather on my mother’s side was also born on this day, even though dead long before I was a twinkle.

I suspect that the same is true for each of my Birth Day buddies, and for each of us on the planet. We are not born alone, nor do we die alone.

Maybe those ancestors are there for the birth of each animal, plant and rock as well. It’s just that those beings aren’t expected to remember.

The end of all this mumbling is that it’s all just a big fat damn mystery.

Happy Birth Day to my friend Zoya, whom I have not yet ‘met’ but have connected with through poetry, specifically through One Single Impression. A remarkably subtle poet; what a gift to have Zoya write a poem for my birthday.

Also check out the multiple blog sites Zoya expresses through!

Happy Birth Day to Gusti, who is lusty and funny, artistically gifted and spirited.

Happy Birth Day to Leslie, who is organized, fun-loving, far-seeing. Big reader of everything that doesn’t get up and walk away from her.

And then there’s the November 26 Birth Day sharer, Tina Turner…oh, for legs and a voice like that one. Happy birthday, Tina!

Happy Thanksgiving–I give big thanks for each of you. The internet has shared amazing gifts of relationship, as if standing at the shoreline and watching what treasures are brought in by the tides. You just never know what will come in, or whose flotsam and jetsam you’ll be! It’s all a big fat damn mystery.
