Trekking with my buddy Geronimo

early am

no one is up

but the flowers and

sleepy, early-rising

as the sun

just barely heads over the eastern ridge

the pungence of Russian sage

and sweet spiciness of newly sprinkled lavender

drift as a hint of brewing coffee

through my tired senses

like a unexpectedly cool breeze on

a yet to be scorching July day.

Thanks to my friend Geraldine of My Poetic Path for this week’s prompt, fragrance. Visit here for her poetic offering for the week.

One Single Impression is a community of poets writing and sharing haiku and other poetic forms. Each week a new prompt is offered to inspire our often lazy muses.
