One of the many gifts of this past year has been the number of new friends–more than just acquaintances–that have come through the work of the Virtual Tea House. One of the newer friend’s sites is Quiet Paths, with the subtitle ‘the journey is the destination‘. It is a reflective site of lovely photography, poetry, prose and connection. Christine and her husband Matthew live in Montana, close to their beloved Rocky Mountains.

Both Christine and Matthew are musicians and they write and play music together as ‘earthpassage’. They have released 5 CDs and a 6th one is in the works. In the last week, they put a piece on Quiet Paths for downloading, called ‘Crescent Moon’. A poem that Christine wrote called Stardust was the muse.

Here’s the link to the music. Crescent Moon

Byline:

Here’s a new harp piece I wrote based on inspiration from Christine’s recent poem. It’s in an unusual tuning, a hexatonic (6 note) scale that I thought evoked the feeling of a winter evening, a rising moon and a deep northern sky. It’s a new year’s gift to all of you.

My Dusty Strings FH32 was recorded direct to a Zoom H2 digital recorder, set in 96khz/24 bit mode, using the custom harp pickup system I developed for our albums. Editing was done in Audacity. Final MP3 conversion was done in Itunes

Hope you enjoy this music, and visiting Christine’s site. It’s worth a long, brewed cup of tea!
